The 2026 FIFA World Cup has begun, with significant attention on its impact both globally and within the United States. Simon Jordan from Talksport highlights the growing popularity of soccer in America, now the third most popular sport, overtaking baseball and hockey.
The anticipation for the tournament is immense, with an expected 6.5 million tickets to be sold. This comes despite challenges faced in previous World Cups. Emotion runs high as Mexico secures the first victory with a match against South Africa, marked by a series of red cards.
Among the various facets of the tournament, a survey by The Lines surveyed 3,000 U.S. soccer enthusiasts to gauge opinions on attractiveness. The survey focused on fan bases, players, managers, and team kits. Notably, Christian Pulisic was recognized as the most attractive player on the U.S. men’s national team, and the U.S. kit was voted the most appealing.
Argentina’s fan base was celebrated as the most attractive globally, followed by Brazil and the United States. This shows prominent attention on Latin American teams, with Mexico coming fourth and France taking the fifth spot among European teams. Such surveys often stir discussions, although this one aligns with many expectations.
In terms of overall team attractiveness, Brazil claimed the top spot. Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, was acknowledged for his appeal, adding another win for Argentina.
