Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift: No Fights, Plenty of Football Fun

Comedian Tom Shillue and columnist Caroline Downey recently joined the discussion on George Clooney’s appearance on NFL star Travis Kelce’s podcast, where Kelce claimed he never argued with his fiancée, Taylor Swift. While Kelce has agreed to a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs for his 14th NFL season, much attention focuses on his relationship with Taylor Swift and their reported wedding plans.

Swift’s connection to football isn’t new. Her father, Scott Swift, has long shared a friendship with Chiefs coach Andy Reid. Since beginning her relationship with Kelce, Swift has been a frequent sight in luxury suites during Kansas City games.

On a recent ‘New Heights’ podcast episode, co-hosted with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce shared a humorous observation Swift made about Jerome Bettis, a legendary Pittsburgh Steelers running back. Swift noted Bettis looked like ‘an offensive lineman running with the football.’

“I showed her a Jerome Bettis highlight tape and she was like ‘Why does he look like an offensive lineman running with the football?’ Because he was ‘The Bus,'” Kelce said.

The nickname ‘The Bus’ for Bettis stems from his size; he was listed at over 250 pounds during his Steelers career, which spanned from 1993 to 2005. Bettis was a six-time Pro Bowler, selected in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Rams, and won Super Bowl XL with the Steelers.
