Satirical outlet The Onion has launched its parody mockup of the conspiracy platform InfoWars. A fake video featuring an imitation of Alex Jones’ death marks its debut.
The Onion has aimed to take control of InfoWars for over a year. This follows after Jones was mandated to pay more than $1 billion to families of Sandy Hook victims for falsely labeling the shooting a hoax.
On Thursday, The Onion proceeded with its inaugural parody video. The video, titled “ALEX JONES IS DEAD—Real InfoWars Livestream,” showcases comedian Tim Heidecker impersonating Alex Jones delivering the news.
“We have leaked video now revealing that Alex Jones uh popped like a balloon in his car two months ago,” Heidecker announced. “That’s right folks. Alex Jones uh, the Alex Jones that we have come to know over the years uh is dead,” he said.
The parody video transitions to a clip of a black vehicle with an unidentifiable person inside. Following this, an explosion occurs inside the vehicle. Warning: the video contains explicit language and graphic content.
“There’s a violent sudden impact from inside the car, essentially the uh body of Alex Jones uh disintegrating instantly and exploding out,” Heidecker stated.
Alex Jones has not issued a response regarding the parody but continues to post content on the X platform, featuring recent episodes of The Alex Jones Show hosted on his webpage, Alex Jones Live.
Newsweek reached out to Jones for comment via email outside of regular business hours. This story is ongoing with updates anticipated.
