Paul Pelosi Involved in Hit-and-Run Incident in California
The husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Paul Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Yountville, California. The incident occurred when he hit a legally parked car, causing significant damage, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
While driving his brown convertible, Pelosi briefly stopped after the collision but then left the scene. A witness who observed the incident alerted local authorities, leading deputies to locate Pelosi and his damaged car roughly a quarter of a mile away from the collision site.
Pelosi, aged 86, reportedly informed officers that he realized he had collided with something but was uncertain of the specifics. Tests confirmed that he had no alcohol in his system. The sheriff’s office has referred him to the Department of Motor Vehicles to assess his driving ability—a routine procedure for older drivers. Since no injuries were reported, the office recommended charging Pelosi with a misdemeanor for leaving the scene of the accident.
A staff member for Nancy Pelosi did not respond to inquiries for comment on the situation.
In 2022, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County, resulting in a five-day jail sentence and three years of probation. However, he only served two of those days due to good conduct credits, and completed the remaining requirement in a work program at the courthouse.
As part of his probation, he was mandated to attend a class for drinking drivers and install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle. Additionally, he was ordered to pay approximately $5,000 in restitution and nearly $2,000 in fines. The same year, Pelosi suffered a severe attack at his San Francisco home where he was beaten with a hammer.
