Months after Lynette vanished in the Bahamas, her mother, Darlene Hamlett, questions husband Brian Hooker’s account of the incident. Lynette, from Michigan, was reported missing on April 4 after she and her husband were boating near Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands. Brian Hooker alleges that she fell from a dinghy and was swept away while they traveled to their sailboat named “Soulmate.” Lynette’s body remains unrecovered.
Mother’s Doubts and Seizure of Dinghy
Darlene Hamlett believes her daughter returned to the “Soulmate” before disappearing. She suspects foul play but hasn’t elaborated publicly, following advice to limit her comments. In a tip to Fox News Digital, she expressed frustration with the investigation’s pace.
Continuing Investigation and Search
The U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service declined to comment on ongoing investigations. In recent efforts, the Coast Guard conducted searches in the Sea of Abaco with the help of a cadaver dog. Investigators brought the dinghy back to the United States for forensic examination. Brian Hooker initially reported that during a night ride, Lynette fell from their dinghy.
Brian Hooker’s Statements and Current Status
Following the incident, Brian Hooker shared on Facebook that Lynette had the ignition key when she fell overboard, requiring him to paddle back to shore. He stated he was heartbroken
and solely focused on finding her. While questioned by Bahamian authorities and later returning to the U.S., Brian Hooker has remained out of public view. To date, he faces no charges or accusations of wrongdoing.
