Senator Rick Scott, a Republican from Florida, has voiced his criticism of the Senate’s work schedule. In an op-ed for Fox News released on Monday, Scott expressed concern about the amount of time the Senate dedicates to its duties in Washington.
Scott, known for his conservative stance, argued that the Senate frequently takes recesses and operates on a short workweek. He pointed out that senators often conclude their week by Thursday afternoon to return to their home states. According to Scott, the Senate has only been in session for 79 days this year.
This issue raises questions about whether the Senate should increase its time in Washington to address legislative responsibilities more effectively.
