E-bike Crash Involving SUV Injures Two Teen Girls in Libertyville
Two 15-year-old girls riding an e-bike were injured, with one sustaining serious injuries, in a crash involving an SUV on Tuesday night in Libertyville.
Paramedics responded to the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road at 9:08 p.m. following a report of the crash involving a vehicle and an e-bike as detailed in a news release.
Police stated that a Chevrolet Blazer was headed north on Milwaukee Avenue and passed through the intersection at Winchester Road, holding a green light. The Blazer collided with the e-bike being ridden by the two teenagers, who were traveling east and crossing Milwaukee Avenue just north of the junction.
Both girls were initially taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center located in Libertyville. However, one of the girls was later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago due to life-threatening injuries. The other girl remained at Condell with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
According to police, the man driving the Blazer was not injured. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
