Georgia Manhunt Ends with Arrest of Domestic Violence Suspect

A 10-hour search in Georgia concluded with the capture of a suspect accused of shooting his child’s mother and escaping on foot. The suspect, Darian Berry Sr., 46, is a convicted felon, according to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began Tuesday morning in Flovilla, about 50 miles south of Atlanta. “He chose to flee, but he couldn’t outrun law enforcement or the bloodhounds that tracked him,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Deputies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance involving Berry. He allegedly attempted to confine his victim and was also accused of arson and stalking.

When deputies arrived, Berry reportedly fled on foot, believed to be armed. Authorities initiated a search, issuing a BOLO alert to the community. The Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit, with their skilled bloodhounds, assisted in locating Berry, resulting in his capture by that evening.

Berry faces several charges, including aggravated assault, stalking, weapon possession by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during a felony, obstruction, two counts of arson, battery, family violence, and false imprisonment.
