LeBron James Talks Free Agency and Hints at Possible 76ers Connection

LeBron James participated in a live episode of “The Shop” at Fanatic Fest in New York City. During this event, he addressed his ongoing free agency process.

While outlining his criteria for choosing his next team, James used the phrase “trust the process.” This phrase is widely linked to the Philadelphia 76ers’ strategic rebuilding plan, initiated by their former general manager Sam Hinkie in 2013. The 76ers are considered leading contenders to sign James in free agency.

James expressed, “I want to compete at a high level. I want to join a franchise that shares my philosophy — practicing championship habits every day and prioritizing the process above all.” As he spoke, attendees noted the possible association with the 76ers, causing a stir among the crowd.

Quick to clarify, James stated, “I’ve been saying ‘trust the process’ since I was drafted in 2003.”

The 76ers possess a strong roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season. They acquired star guard Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics in a major trade earlier this offseason. Brown joins a lineup that includes Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.

Besides the 76ers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves are also top contenders in the race to sign James.
