A 17-year-old male faces a murder charge following the death of a young boy who was found shot on Chicago’s South Side earlier this year, according to authorities. The Chicago police announced in a news release on Friday night that the teenager has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Police identified the victim as 13-year-old DeAntwan McKeever, who was discovered with a gunshot wound to his head in the South Chicago neighborhood on May 21. McKeever, a resident of West Town, was immediately transported to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Sadly, after spending a week in the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The arrest of the teen suspect occurred on Thursday in the 3000 block of East 79th Place in South Chicago. An initial court appearance for the accused is scheduled for Saturday.
