A man named Keith Jonathan Webster crashed into the wooden gate of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s home in East Hampton last Wednesday. According to the police report, Webster, 63, is a Bronx resident. He faces charges of felony criminal mischief in the second degree and misdemeanor trespass in the third degree.
The gate of the celebrity couple’s home sustained significant damage. A witness reported that Webster drove at high speed up the driveway and did not stop until he broke through the gate. His vehicle was seized for evidence.
After being arrested, Webster disclosed an injury that required him to be transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Following his hospital visit, he was returned to police custody. On Thursday, Webster had his arraignment, where Justice Steven Tekulsky issued a protection order preventing him from contacting Beyoncé or Jay-Z. During the arraignment, he appeared disoriented and was admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital’s mental health facility.
Detective Sergeant Jennifer Dunn mentioned that Webster’s motivation for the incident is still being investigated. She noted that he does not have a criminal history. It remains unknown if Beyoncé and Jay-Z were at home during the event.
