U.S. Military Launches Retaliatory Airstrikes Against Iran’s Revolutionary Guard

The U.S. military launched airstrikes on Sunday targeting Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. This action followed the killing of American troops in Jordan and demonstrated an escalation in conflict between the U.S. and Iran. The strikes are part of a larger campaign that began with a battle over the Strait of Hormuz. During this conflict, Iran has targeted U.S.-allied countries in the Middle East.

The U.S. military has attacked infrastructure such as bridges and electrical facilities in Iran. In response, Iran has struck power and desalination plants in Kuwait, affecting daily life. Tensions have risen as Iran continues to threaten further military actions. The United Arab Emirates issued a warning overnight, and both Kuwait and Bahrain have activated air defenses due to the threat of incoming drones and missiles from Iran.

The U.S. Central Command announced that it targeted Iranian coastal surveillance, air defense facilities, and missile and drone storage sites. The goal was to decrease Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz and penalize the Revolutionary Guard for their actions. According to Iranian authorities, the latest U.S. strikes have killed at least 50 people and wounded over 500. The United Arab Emirates remains undisturbed by Iran’s direct strikes, yet a threat was issued by the Iranian news agency Fars, urging evacuation of key areas in the UAE if assaults on Iran’s infrastructure continue. The UAE’s Foreign Ministry called for restraint and condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure as violations of international law.

Trump threatened to strike Iran’s power stations and bridges to pressure them over the Strait of Hormuz. Recent military activities indicate the U.S. is pursuing this strategy. Last week, the U.S. reinstated a naval blockade on Iranian ports, preventing crude oil shipments. Since then, they have redirected five shipping vessels.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned of severe repercussions if the U.S. continues its attacks. Iran has suspended commitments to an interim peace agreement. In a statement, Iran’s military command denounced U.S. aggression, promising significant retaliation.
