Iran’s Preparedness for U.S. Ground Invasion Amid Escalated Conflict

Tehran has spent years preparing for a possible ground invasion by the U.S., as claimed by a senior Iranian official amid increased tensions and recent explosions in the region.

Seyed Mohammad Marandi, an academic with links to the Iranian regime, stated that Iran has decentralized and concealed its missile arsenal underground to endure potential American air assaults. He also mentioned the recent successful launch of a new Iranian missile.

Marandi alleged that the U.S. has plans for an invasion, although he emphasized the uncertainty of when such plans might be executed. He discussed this with political analyst Glenn Diesen, noting Iran’s strategic focus on Bahrain and Kuwait due to the presence of American military assets there.

“Whether they carry them out or not, we’ll see. But the focus of Iranian strikes is on Bahrain and Kuwait, where most American assets have been placed for a ground invasion,” Diesen remarked.

The conflict has now spread across western and southern Iran, with Iran launching missile and drone assaults on U.S.-related facilities in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Jordan reported intercepting ten missiles, whereas Kuwait experienced casualties and significant damage at key infrastructure facilities.

In retaliation, U.S. airstrikes targeted bridges, road tunnels, and underground weapons storage sites. Explosions were reported in Khorramabad, Iran’s Lorestan province, as claimed by Iranian media to be caused by U.S. missiles launched from Kuwait.

Khorramabad is home to the Imam Ali Missile Base, crucial for storing Shahab-3 missiles. The base suffered damages from Israeli airstrikes in a previous campaign targeting Tehran’s military infrastructure.

Marandi described Iran’s tactics, indicating a robust, underground system crucial for missile operations. Iran uses a strategy of spreading out missile and drone systems to avoid concentrated attacks.

The ongoing U.S.-Iran escalation has disrupted a recently signed agreement for a 60-day ceasefire intended to facilitate nuclear discussions. Key tensions revolve around controlling the Strait of Hormuz, pivotal to the conflict.

President Trump ordered renewed airstrikes following the ceasefire, and Iran has introduced new weapons, enhancing its military capabilities as it braces for a potential ground campaign.

Marandi claimed Iran is well-prepared for land warfare, having stockpiled missiles and drones. He suggested Tehran views a U.S. ground strategy as a means to potentially conclude the conflict.

“Iran wants the Americans to carry out a land invasion, believing a land conflict would be to their advantage,” Marandi told Diesen.
