Mass Shooting in Tucson, Arizona: Nine People Injured

A mass shooting took place in Tucson, Arizona, injuring nine individuals, as reported by police.

Authorities intervened by shooting a suspect at the location, who has since been hospitalized with critical injuries.

The event unfolded around 2 a.m. Sunday, initiated by officers on patrol who responded to gunfire. The shooting occurred in the downtown area, specifically on the 100 block of East Congress Street, recognized for its vibrant nightlife consisting of bars and restaurants.

Frank Magos, representing the Tucson Police Department, shared at a press briefing that officers promptly advanced toward the sound of gunfire and encountered the suspect. Officers issued multiple commands, and subsequently, one officer shot the suspect. There were no officer casualties reported.

All nine injured were aided on-site by officers before being transported to the hospital. As stated by Magos, many suffered gunshot wounds to their limbs, with all victims being adults.

Police are requesting public assistance and highlighted the area as a significant crime scene. The investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
