Sen. Darline Graham Announces Candidacy for Full Senate Term

Senator Darline Graham, from South Carolina, has announced her decision to run for a full Senate term in November. This declaration was made during an interview with ‘Hannity,’ marking her first public speech since the passing of her brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham.

‘He worked tirelessly, and I cannot let that fade away. I must continue his legacy,’ Darline expressed in the interview. Reflecting on her brother’s dedication, she noted, ‘Lindsey cared profoundly for the people of South Carolina, and I feel equipped to do the same. His teachings have prepared me well.’

At a press conference outside the governor’s office in Columbia, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham Nordone to complete the remaining term of her late brother’s Senate seat following Lindsey’s death on July 11.

After her appointment, Graham announced her candidacy for a complete six-year term. As the first female U.S. Senator from South Carolina, she conveyed a sense of ‘inner peace’ about stepping into her brother’s shoes and representing The Palmetto State.

‘It’s a heavy responsibility,’ she commented. ‘But I feel peaceful about taking it on.’

Graham plans to focus on domestic issues and prioritize daily concerns of South Carolinians over foreign policy, unlike her brother who emphasized the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

‘I remember watching Lindsey discuss national security all the time,’ she explained. ‘While protecting our borders is crucial, I am concerned about everyday issues such as the cost of groceries, gas, health care, and insurance.’

Lindsey Graham passed away on July 11 at age 71 due to an aortic dissection caused by cardiovascular disease. Darline Graham mentioned the difficulty of losing her brother, whom she described as her rock and a prominent figure in her life.

‘It’s been incredibly challenging,’ she shared with Sean Hannity. ‘He was my rock, serving as a brother, a mother, and a father.’

Since 2019, Graham has overseen a $90 million budget as a commissioner for South Carolina’s Commission for the Blind. This organization aids individuals who are blind or visually impaired in finding employment.

‘I always had a passion for this work, but it requires a servant’s heart,’ she remarked.
