Country music artist Carly Pearce recently disclosed her stance on having children, stating they are not part of her life plans. Responding to a fan inquiry on TikTok, Pearce, who was previously married to singer Michael Ray for a year before their 2020 divorce, clarified her position.
The 36-year-old explained, “I always feel bad saying that I don’t want children. Although I love children and my friends’ kids, being an aunt is enough for me. Becoming a parent was never my aspiration.” Pearce, who is passionate about her music career, emphasized, “My dream was always to pursue country music and live on the road.”
Pearce advocated for acknowledging those who choose not to have children, asserting, “We should normalize people who truly know they don’t want kids. Not everyone should feel pressured just because society tells us to.” She expressed comfort with her decision, stating, “I don’t want children and I’m okay with that.”
Addressing marriage, Pearce said she is open to it, remarking, “So what, I was divorced. That was my start-up marriage; now I get to have the real one.” Her comments resonated with fans who supported her decisions through encouraging messages.
“People who don’t want children shouldn’t have children. More power to you!” remarked one TikTok user.
The singer’s fans appreciated her authenticity, with another user commenting, “You should never feel bad. Women’s worth should not solely be measured by their roles as wives or mothers.”
Pearce’s past relationship with Michael Ray began in 2018, initiated by Pearce’s social media message. Their relationship quickly advanced, culminating in an engagement in December 2018 and marriage in October 2019. The couple’s divorce in June 2020 was attributed to irreconcilable differences.
Since her divorce, Pearce has pursued other relationships, including her current involvement with entrepreneur Jordan Karcher, founder of Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co., made public in July.
