Huckabee Warns Skepticism of U.S.-Israel Ties Fueled by Biblical Ignorance

He attributes this unease to what he calls “biblical ignorance” and misinterpretations of the “America First” mindset.

Before the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Israel Education Association, Huckabee spoke to Fox News Digital. He emphasized that prioritizing America doesn’t entail alienating allies like Israel. He believes that supporting Israel aligns with U.S. interests and resonates with the religious convictions of many Christians. “There’s a lack of biblical understanding,” Huckabee stated. “Some suggest God has retracted his promise to the Jewish people, which contradicts divine nature since God keeps his promises.”

Huckabee, who has an extensive background as both Governor of Arkansas and a Baptist minister, integrates his political and faith-driven perspectives. He rejected claims that Christians face barriers in Israel regarding worship. Sharing his personal experience, he mentioned participating in his church’s praise band without fear or reproach.

In recent times, skepticism toward Israel has appeared more often in right-wing media circles and podcasts. Notable figures, like Joe Rogan, have accused Israel of serious allegations regarding its actions in Gaza.

The ambassador’s concerns extend beyond religious or theological differences. He believes some conservatives misread the “America First” principle as isolationist. Huckabee clarified, “Being America First isn’t about excluding others. I supported this philosophy long before others recognized it as MAGA.”

Huckabee underscored that national interests are global, especially when addressing threats from adversaries. He referenced Iran’s continuous adversarial stance toward the U.S. He argued that Iran’s threats and their proxies highlight the necessity for America to stay engaged internationally. “For 47 years, they’ve openly declared their intent to harm us. Ignoring that is both reckless and dangerous,” he noted.
