Elaine Angene Escoe’s Capture in Jamaica
The FBI has arrested Elaine Angene Escoe, a fugitive on the run since May 2025, accused of a $32 million COVID fraud. She was found living in Jamaica under the alias ‘Harley Newman’. The FBI returned her to the United States to face legal proceedings. FBI Director Kash Patel praised the successful apprehension, marking Escoe as the fourth major capture in recent weeks.
Influencer’s Legal Challenges in Los Angeles
Adva Lavie, a Los Angeles influencer also known as Mia Ventura, is back in custody after allegedly removing her ankle monitor while awaiting trial for felony burglary. Authorities arrested her in Beverly Hills following her violation of release conditions. A judge revoked her bail and scheduled a review hearing in Van Nuys.
Court records indicate that Lavie faces charges in Riverside County for stealing over $11,000 in luxury items during the Coachella Music Festival in 2025. She failed to appear for her arraignment in May, resulting in a $20,000 warrant for her arrest.

The Riverside County case involves allegations of Lavie stealing a $8,600 Rolex watch, Louis Vuitton sunglasses valued at $700, and a Louis Vuitton cardholder worth $1,800. These items belonged to a man Lavie met at Coachella. Surveillance footage allegedly captured the theft, leading investigators to identify Lavie. She is also suspected of another theft at the same location.
Ongoing Allegations and Charges
Prosecutors have accused Lavie of operating a dating app burglary scheme across Southern California, targeting affluent individuals. She allegedly used dating apps and websites to infiltrate homes by posing as a companion. Charges against her include six felony counts such as grand theft and residential burglary. Lavie’s recent arrest reignited public attention to these allegations.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed determination to prove that Lavie misused the trust gained through online relationships. Prosecutors aim to demonstrate her manipulation of victims to execute thefts. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department previously issued bulletins regarding her involvement in these crimes. Her fiancé, Stephen Cloobeck, was also arrested on separate charges related to the case.
Adva Lavie could face up to 11 years and 8 months in state prison if convicted on all counts in Los Angeles County.
