Ravens Kicker Tyler Loop Focuses on Long-Range Improvement After Rookie Year

Tyler Loop, drafted in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2025 NFL Draft, faced the challenge of stepping into the role once held by legendary kicker Justin Tucker.

During his rookie season, Loop achieved a 95.7 percent success rate on extra points and completed 88.2 percent of his field goals. He was flawless in all 21 attempts from inside 39 yards. However, he struggled with long-range kicks, making only one of four attempts beyond 50 yards, including a successful 52-yarder.

Recently, Ravens special teams coordinator Anthony Levine Sr. highlighted Loop’s efforts to improve his long-range accuracy during training camp. Levine noted that Loop successfully executed a 57-yard attempt on Tuesday.

“We have the confidence in Tyler Loop to go out and make any kick from anywhere on the field,” Levine expressed through the Ravens’ website. “He’s shown his capability in training camp. He made a 57-yarder, a 53-yarder, a 49-yarder, and several under 45. His confidence and consistency are impressive.”

The conclusion of Loop’s first season was not ideal, as he missed a 44-yard attempt as time expired, leading to a 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18. This missed opportunity prevented the Ravens from securing an AFC North title and a playoff spot.

Afterward, Loop shared his eagerness to rebound from the missed kick. “We talk about having a one-minute rule,” Loop stated. “This one is tougher because it ended the season. But when I get back on the field, moving on is key.”

The Ravens believe Loop can overcome his rookie struggles with long-range kicks. His progress was evident with recent successful attempts in training camp. Maintaining this consistency will be crucial through the preseason.
