Bella Thorne took a bold step in 2019 when she released her own nude photos. This decision came in response to an alleged blackmail attempt. However, it was the public victim-blaming that she said led to a significant personal emotional downturn.
The situation began when Thorne accused a hacker of blackmailing her with nude photos. Reacting swiftly, she decided to release the images herself, as she shared during an appearance on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast. ‘I just did an honest Twitter post,’ Thorne shared, emphasizing her determination to reclaim control.
I just kind of set it out as … you’re not gonna keep taking this from me, so here it is,
she said.
This move attracted criticism, which Thorne found deeply troubling. Many accused her of attention-seeking rather than acknowledging her actions as a defense against extortion. You want us so badly to see your private parts that that’s why you’re doing it,
critics claimed, leaving her ‘completely… broken and so upset.’
Bella Thorne, known for her role as CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel’s ‘Shake It Up,’ recounted how the FBI became involved in the case. The agency reached out to her with concerns about her situation. So now I have like a house full of FBI,
she recalled, describing the surreal experience of working with agents at her home.
For over a year, Thorne collaborated with the FBI, providing evidence that became vital to their investigation. Her decision to share screenshots of the messages played a key role. These images helped authorities identify a suspect based on writing style analysis. That’s how they knew,
she explained. It’s the same guy, it has to be.
The proactive release of the screenshots enabled investigators to solidify their case against the suspected blackmailer, showcasing how her transparency contributed to legal advancements.
