Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships Preview

The Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships will broadcast live this week from Thursday to Sunday on NBC Sports and Peacock, directly from Phoenix.

The men’s competitions are scheduled for Thursday at 10 p.m. ET and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. You can watch these on Peacock and NBCSN. The women’s competitions will take place on Friday at 10 p.m. and on Sunday at 6 p.m., available on Peacock and NBC.

Men’s Competition Highlights

Leading the men’s events are the 2024 Olympic bronze medalists Frederick Richard and Stephen Nedoroscik, who aim to secure positions on the team for the World Championships in October in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The men’s all-around winner at nationals guarantees the first spot on the five-man team if he finishes in the top three on at least three of the six apparatus this week. The full men’s world team will be finalized by the end of Sunday.

Women’s Competition Highlights

For the women, guided by 2024 Olympic gold medalists Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, no world team spots can be secured at nationals. Successful gymnasts will proceed to a selection competition this fall in Crossville, Tennessee, where the five-woman world team will be determined. Carey marks her return to elite competition this year since the Paris Olympics. Rivera, who became the youngest U.S. Olympian at 16, could potentially replicate Simone Biles’ feat by becoming the second woman to repeat as U.S. all-around champion over the last 13 years.

Other formidable competitors include Skye Blakely, who was the runner-up to Biles at the 2024 Nationals before an Achilles injury, and Reese Esponda, who excelled at the U.S. Classic tune-up meet on July 19.
