Remains Found in Arizona Amid Search for Missing Parents

Authorities discovered the remains of two people in an Arizona backyard on Thursday. This occurred amidst a search for a missing couple, with their son suspected of having left the country, according to police reports.

Background of the Investigation

The investigation began after family members reported the couple, along with their son Matthew Flores, 27, as missing. Avondale police spokesperson Officer Daniel Benavidez noted that when officers conducted a welfare check at the Litchfield Park home, signs of foul play were evident.

“A large amount of blood was found, along with evidence suggesting attempts to conceal it, leading us to suspect foul play,” Benavidez said at a news conference.

Although the human remains found in the backyard had not been identified by Thursday afternoon, the Phoenix police homicide unit was assisting in their recovery, Benavidez stated.

Initial Police Actions

On Tuesday, family members contacted police, anticipating that the mother, father, and their adult son would be found at the residence. The names of the parents have not been made public, respecting the family’s request, according to Benavidez.

The bodies were reported to be in a decomposed state, but their duration in the backyard remains unknown, said Benavidez.

Current Status of the Investigation

Flores has been identified as a suspect in the investigation of the missing persons, as stated by Benavidez. Police are actively searching for Flores and have several leads.

Benavidez has not disclosed details about which country Flores allegedly fled to, commenting only, “All I can say is that he fled the country.” Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding Flores’ whereabouts or movements to contact the department.
