Missing Women and Child Found Safe After Tubing Incident on Michigan River

Authorities successfully located two women and a 9-year-old child who had been missing after a tubing trip on the Muskegon River in Michigan. They were found safe on Friday afternoon, with the assistance of a Michigan State Police K9 team and state conservation officers. The discovery occurred at 4:36 p.m., nearly one mile from a boat launch on the river.

The Michigan State Police expressed relief, stating, “This is the outcome everyone hoped for.” The connection between the two women, both aged 28, and the child was not immediately established.

Additional details regarding their conditions and the circumstances leading to their disappearance remain undisclosed. However, their finding brings closure to a case that began when a significant distance from another boat launch, a car tied to one of the women was found with a broken window.

The investigation intensified after the woman’s father discovered the abandoned car and notified authorities. According to reports, the group had been out of contact for over 24 hours, prompting concern among family members. State police identified two of their tubes and footprints on Thursday, which helped narrow the search area.

The search operation involved almost two dozen state police posts and numerous law enforcement agencies and government departments. Volunteers also participated, showcasing community support and collaboration in locating the trio.
