Body Language Expert Analyzes Viral Videos of Justin Herbert and Madison Beer
Social media buzzed over two viral videos featuring Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and his fiancée, Madison Beer, at training camp. Critics claimed the affectionate moment revealed distraction or weakness in Herbert. To clarify, behavioral scientist and body language expert Dr. Abbie Maroño provided an analysis.
In the clips, Maroño observed the couple’s posture, proximity, and nonverbal signals. She stressed that fans should not overreact. The perceived softness with a partner does not translate to softness in competition. Emotional softness and mental strength, Maroño noted, are not opposites.
Being soft with your partner doesn’t mean that you’re being soft in competition.
The third-party analysis came after Herbert and Beer, who announced their engagement on July 28, were seen in a normal affectionate interaction. Dr. Maroño stated that social media amplified this into an unwarranted discussion. She emphasized Madison Beer’s tactile nature and Herbert’s apparent comfort with it, countering claims of his supposed discomfort.
Dr. Maroño pointed out that professional gamblers often study body language, including in pregame settings, to predict outcomes. She remarked that coaches sometimes select players based on pregame body language, not just performance.
Does Justin Herbert’s body language indicate any concern? Maroño believes public perception of tenderness equating to weakness is misleading. A 26-touchdown to 13-interception season suggests otherwise. While engagement could pose future challenges, Maroño observed no immediate issues in the videos.
She concluded by stating that time management between personal and professional commitments is essential. Herbert’s ability to balance them is a personal decision.
