On his “4th & 1” podcast, Cam Newton echoed Rodgers’ claims. He detailed how the 2021 NFL protocols mandated COVID vaccinations for all team members. Those who weren’t vaccinated had to face frequent testing and strict guidelines. Newton noted that while all coaches were obligated to get vaccinated, some players found ways around this by purchasing counterfeit vaccination cards.

Newton’s allegations coincide with Rodgers’ account of the era, when opposition to Anthony Fauci’s Senate testimony went viral. Rodgers criticized Fauci for invoking the Fifth Amendment during questioning about his role in COVID-19 policies.

Aaron Rodgers’ Critique

Rodgers questioned the credibility of some vaccination cards, saying, “A lot of people had probably fake vax cards back in the day.” He recalled seeing cards that appeared hastily marked, pointing out the perceived inequity faced by unvaccinated individuals in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback described the pandemic period as disorganized, criticizing the inconsistencies in policies like mask mandates in restaurants while dining. Rodgers expressed frustration with what he termed ‘performative’ health measures.

Newton shared his experiences with the vaccination protocols. Although initially speaking of 2020, the events he described began in 2021. He recounted issues he faced due to his unvaccinated status. After traveling for a medical appointment, Newton had to adhere to a five-day reentry process, which affected his practice time with the New England Patriots. Newton lost his starting position to Mac Jones, which he attributes partly to the complications from these protocols.
