Jets Practice Halted as Player Faces Medical Emergency

A tense moment unfolded in New Jersey when a joint training session between the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers abruptly stopped due to a medical issue. The incident involved Jets cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers. He was taken from the practice field at the team’s Florham Park facility in an ambulance.

As reported by ESPN, Stiggers needed an IV while on the ground. Head Coach Aaron Glenn commented that Stiggers became unresponsive after a play but was conscious shortly after. Glenn praised the medical team’s quick response and added that Stiggers was “able to talk” and was doing “for the most part…good.” The temperatures in Florham Park reached 85 degrees on Tuesday and had been close to 100 degrees over the weekend.

During the practice, Stiggers was part of at least three altercations, highlighting a highly charged session. Stiggers, who skipped college to play in the Fan Controlled League straight out of high school, later played a season for the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts. He was selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, making him the first player since 1999 to be drafted directly from the CFL.

In his previous season, Stiggers made an impact by appearing in 15 games, making 27 tackles, and recovering two fumbles. The practice stoppage came after these significant contributions.
