Former Swimmer Charged in Hawaii Resort Homicide

A tragic event unfolded in Maui, Hawaii, involving a former college swimmer from California. Legend Storer, 20, faces serious charges after allegedly attacking a security guard, who later died.

The chain of events began in the early hours of August 5. Surveillance footage recorded a naked man, later identified as Storer, approaching the security office at a resort in Lahaina. Michael “Mike” Dyer, 63, was on duty.

According to the Maui Police Department, the suspect assaulted Dyer and fled the scene. By 3:02 a.m., reports emerged of a nude man wandering in nearby Kahana.

Arrest and Charges

Police found Storer with multiple abrasions at 3:35 a.m., transporting him to Maui Memorial Medical Center for assessment. At 5:31 a.m., officers discovered Dyer unresponsive in his office. He was declared dead shortly after.

Investigations revealed that the unidentified man seen in Kahana matched the individual from the resort’s footage. Although police initially withheld the suspect’s name per a court ruling, court records confirm Storer as the person charged.

Storer faces three charges: second-degree murder, first-degree burglary using a dangerous instrument, and indecent exposure. He pleaded not guilty on August 7.
