Philadelphia Police Investigate After Disturbing Digital Evidence Found

Philadelphia police have initiated a death investigation following a review of images and videos retrieved from a residence in Philadelphia. These materials seem to depict the bodies of two women reported missing.

The evidence emerged during an investigation into Eugene Horsch, aged 44. Since June, Horsch’s Olney home has been under police scrutiny. Currently, he faces charges related to firearm possession and holding counterfeit DEA and FBI credentials. As of Wednesday, no additional charges have been filed.

During a Wednesday briefing, Inspector Ray Evers of the Philadelphia Police described the examination of digital evidence, which included images and videos suggesting the death of two women.

The women have been identified by police as Maribel Fresses and Gabriella Amarando. Fresses was last seen in 2018 when she was 27 years old, and Amarando vanished in 2012 at 22.

I’m not going to get into exactly what I saw,” Evers stated. “It’s real dark. What we saw is these two girls alive; there is a period of time, and what appears to us is that they are deceased,”

The investigation has led to the execution of over 95 search warrants at Horsch’s residence and its belongings. The FBI is providing support in the inquiry. Investigators have found approximately 600,000 images and 70,000 videos on hard drives in the location.

Evers characterized the volume of digital evidence as “astonishing,” pointing out that “this investigation will take time.” He termed the case “new territory” for the Philadelphia homicide unit.

“Usually, when we have a homicide investigation, we have a body. We have body parts. This time we do not,” Evers explained.
