Jim Caviezel feels that audiences are eager for heroes as he prepares for his role in the movie “Ghost Soldier.” The trailer provides a glimpse into Caviezel’s character, a reclusive ex-Special Forces soldier and weapons developer, who returns to action to defend his community from a powerful foreign corporation.
The plot centers around Caviezel’s character, Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, using his exceptional skills and advanced weaponry to fight back against threats to his hometown. In the trailer, Caviezel is depicted protecting his community from a corporate takeover.
“People want to see someone do the right thing, with all the odds stacked against them,” Caviezel explained.
Caviezel shared his immediate connection with his character Fitz’s sense of duty and justice. He values roles that showcase personal responsibility and moral integrity.
“I connected with Fitz right away because he’s a hero,” Caviezel said. “He can’t walk away from an injustice, whatever it costs him. I love a good action film, but it was Fitz’s moral compass and his hunger for justice that made me say yes.”
Caviezel has experience playing sacrificing roles, famously portraying Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ” and Tim Ballard in “Sound of Freedom.” These roles reinforce his belief in the value of personal sacrifice for one’s convictions.
“I want to play men who’ll sacrifice for what they believe. That’s the measure of a man, and it’s the story I keep coming back to,” Caviezel stated.
Caviezel observes a resurgence in community protection in America and believes “Ghost Soldier” addresses that resurgence.
“Most people resonate with protecting their home, family, and community because we were created with the instinct to protect what we love,” he said. “That’s the resurgence I see, and this film speaks right to it.”
“Ghost Soldier,” featuring Jim Caviezel, Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt, and Shea Whigham, will premiere on November 6.
The film aims to showcase a hero who represents truth, encouraging audiences to engage with the story.
“Give them a hero who stands for what’s true, and audiences show up. That hunger is still there,” Caviezel added.
