Tim Green recently shared insights into his personal journey battling ALS. He spoke with ‘Fox & Friends’ co-host Brian Kilmeade at his New York home. Their discussion touched on his ALS diagnosis, his faith, how technology helps him maintain his voice, efforts to fund ALS research, and his new book ‘Rocket Arm.’
In related news, former NFL linebacker O.J. Brigance passed away at 56 after a long fight with ALS. Brigance’s football career spanned from 1996 to 2002, playing for teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, and New England Patriots. He was part of the 2000 Ravens squad that captured Super Bowl XXXV against the New York Giants.
We are devastated by the awful news that we have lost O.J. Brigance,” said Steve Bisciotti, the Ravens’ team owner. “O.J. was a beloved legend, mentor, and man to all who knew him. He was a Ravens hero with his passionate play, including the first tackle in the 2000 Super Bowl.
Brigance was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 and became a significant advocate for ALS research. His dedication earned him the 2016 NCAA Inspiration Award. Known for his warmth and positive demeanor, Brigance connected with many, both inside the Ravens organization and in the broader community.
Steve Bisciotti emphasized Brigance’s contributions: “This is a tremendously sad day for Baltimore. O.J. will be remembered for his service to our community, to the Ravens, and his work to find a cure for ALS,” he said. The Ravens offered condolences to Brigance’s wife, Chanda, and his family.
His football journey began at Rice University where he stood out. He turned professional in 1996, joining the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. Brigance’s stint with Miami lasted until 1999 before his move to the Ravens in 2000, recording pivotal plays.
Later, he played for the Rams and Patriots until 2002 before retiring from professional sports. Even after retiring, Brigance remained part of the Ravens family, contributing as the director of player development.
We have lost a very special soul in O.J. Brigance. He has been a member of the Ravens family for over 25 years and was an inspiring symbol of grace, class, compassion, and competitive competence, former Ravens head coach Brian Billick and his wife Kim conveyed in a statement.
Brigance’s legacy will continue to inspire the Ravens organization and his contributions to ALS awareness will be remembered fondly by many. His spirit and achievements make him a prominent figure in NFL history.
