Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers once again made their on-court rivalry memorable during Dallas’ narrow 91-85 victory over Indiana. In the closing seconds of the first half, Clark managed the ball while Bueckers played defense. Bueckers attempted to stop the play before halftime by wrapping up Clark’s left arm as the Wings still had a foul to spare.
Visibly frustrated by the contact, Clark tossed the ball down the court, narrowly missing Bueckers’ head, before both teams headed to the locker room. This incident resulted in a brief exchange between the celebrated guards, although television microphones failed to capture their words clearly.
During the game, Bueckers was penalized for a common foul on the play. The tension from the first half seemed to carry over, as she later received a technical foul while disputing a call involving Clark in the third quarter.
Kelsey Mitchell was a standout for Indiana, scoring 37 points, while Clark contributed a team-high of nine assists. On Dallas’ side, Arike Ogunbowale led with 32 points and Bueckers added eight assists.
Dallas Wings guards Paige Bueckers continued to showcase her skills against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. In their prior matchup, both players scored 29 points, with Indiana eventually winning 98-87. Despite the previous defeat, Clark expressed admiration for Bueckers, acknowledging her skill during a post-game briefing.
“Obviously, she’s an incredible player. Paige is a tremendous player,” Clark shared. “She takes what the defense gives her; she doesn’t force anything; she’s smooth; she finds the open teammate. So she’s just a really tough guard.”
