Philadelphia police have identified a suspect accused of terrorizing women in the city streets. Authorities are urging the public to be vigilant, as they believe the suspect may have left Pennsylvania.
Suspect Identified
Zymire Hughes, aged 22, has an active arrest warrant, according to police reports. Officers allege he wore a Chucky-style Halloween mask during an assault on a woman. The incident occurred last Wednesday, and he reportedly pursued the woman with aggressive intent.
Incident Details
Witnesses report that Hughes shouted threats, including asking a woman if she was “ready to die” while pursuing others. Surveillance footage allegedly shows him approaching people in Philadelphia. One Dunkin’ Donuts reportedly refused him service due to his mask.
Police Actions and Public Response
A side-by-side image released by the police features the suspect in a doll mask alongside footage of him allegedly pursuing a victim near City Hall. Among those menaced, a woman trained in combat, Jameka Wilson, managed to fend off Hughes when he reportedly threatened her. Wilson recounted, “He was not guarding his midsection, so she kicked him hard in the chest. He stumbled and ran.”
Suspect Description and Connections
Authorities suggest that Hughes might have links to California and Nevada. He is described as a Black male with medium complexion, standing 5-foot-8, with a thin build. During the incidents, he wore a white Chucky-style mask with black hair and carried a black/blue plaid backpack.
