Deadly Shooting at Seattle Festival: Key Details from 911 Calls and Investigation

New 911 recordings reveal more about the fatal shooting at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival. These calls capture the tense emergency response as first responders handled multiple casualties.

I’m losing blood,

said a caller who reported being shot in the back. The caller was unsure of the shooter’s identity.

The dispatcher tried to reassure this caller, who had taken cover near a water fountain: It’s OK. Just breathe. Breathe with me. I’m going to stay with you.

The caller mentioned being near an officer moments later. Additional emergency transmissions detail dispatchers and responders trying to grasp the gravity of the unfolding situation near the Seattle Center Armory.

Emergency Response: Quick Actions

A dispatcher confirmed to other responders that there were multiple casualties:

• Multiple people down at this point, one dispatcher reported.
• More dispatchers called for additional aid, saying more injuries were likely.

Despite the chaos, emergency crews initially treated the site as an active scene while verifying the safety for responders to enter. Eventually, confirmation of six gunshot wounds arose amid high tension.

Authorities and Investigation Updates

A statement from Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes on a vigil after the shooting confirmed the dire circumstances. Two individuals were confirmed dead at the festival scene, with an additional death at the hospital. Multiple injuries included a toddler aged just two.

As the police compile details, interim Police Chief Andre Sayles mentioned the possibility of an arrest on an unspecified date. Sayles emphasized preserving the integrity of the investigation while processing emerging information.

Suspect in Custody and Investigation Stance

Police have detained a 15-year-old suspect; he remains in custody on gun-related suspicions and first-degree assault. Bystanders were harmed as rival groups clashed outside the Armory, authorities disclosed. The investigation initially suspected two shooters, but evidence later suggested exchanges between the young detainee and a dead companion may have involved additional unknown parties.

Mayor Wilson remarked poignantly about the tragedy’s impact:

Impacted families are living through the worst moment of their lives, and an entire community is trying to understand how a gathering built around culture, connection, and joy ended in gunfire.

Seattle police and local government continue to investigate the circumstances, pledging to inform the public on significant developments.
