The raid on the residence of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s son has sparked significant attention on social media. Minneapolis police conducted a search at the home of Adnan Hirsi, Omar’s son, removing guns and ammunition. The action resulted in the arrest of Hirsi’s roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, as reported by Alpha News.
Importantly, neither Hirsi nor Rep. Omar faces any accusations of wrongdoing in relation to this incident.
Nonetheless, the connection between Hirsi and the suspect has led to criticism from right-wing commentators on social media platforms. Responses to the report include posts from several influencers and media personalities.
“Nothing to see here. Move along,” expressed Steve Ferguson, a small business owner with a substantial following on X. Meanwhile, right-wing activist Benny Johnson remarked, “Not a good look for Ilhan Omar.” Another influencer, Spitfire, noted, “This Omar investigation is getting more interesting by the day.”
Townhall columnist Derek Hunter referenced unsubstantiated claims about Omar’s personal life, which she has denied, stating, “Anyone shocked that a horrible person would be a horrible mother? What do you expect from someone who marries their brother?” Comments like these reflect a broader pattern of criticism directed at Omar by her detractors.
Further adding to the online discourse, commentator Gunther Eagleman expressed a desire to “deport Ilhan Omar and her family.” Eitan Fischberger, identified as an opinion columnist and former Israeli military staff sergeant, aligned his commentary with various accusations:
“Ilhan Omar: Supports violent jihad. Ilhan’s daughter: Arrested during pro-Hamas campus riots; traveled to Cuba with a CCP-linked group. Ilhan’s son: Home raided by police; guns and ammunition seized.”
The news was also circulated without narrative by past Trump advisors Corey Lewandowski and Sean Spicer.
The Alpha News report detailed the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday at the apartment Abdi shares with Hirsi. Authorities recovered firearms and ammunition during the operation. Abdi’s arrest predates the search. As of now, there is no information implicating Hirsi in unlawful activity.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, when asked, did not provide comments concerning the raid. Fox News Digital confirmed Abdi’s arrest and subsequent booking by the Minneapolis police, noting his release occurred the following night.
Rep. Omar, noted for her strong stance on gun control, had no immediate response to these developments. Her office did receive inquiries from Fox News Digital for comment on the situation.
The political discourse surrounding this story underscores the significant scrutiny and polarizing perspectives typically directed at figures like Omar.
