Scott Brown Praises Sophie Cunningham’s Advocacy for Women’s Sports
Scott Brown, a former U.S. Senator and current Senate candidate from New Hampshire, shared his admiration for Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham during an interview with the Ruthless Podcast. Brown applauded Cunningham for her outspoken advocacy regarding women’s sports.
Brown expressed his appreciation, saying, “I don’t miss a game when the Fever are playing. Sophie Cunningham had the guts to get up and challenge this crazy ideology.” Cunningham had made headlines earlier in the summer when she stated that female athletes should not have to compete against biological men.
Brown is familiar with the debate surrounding women’s sports. His daughter, Ayla Brown, was a standout basketball player at Boston College. Brown recalled, “My daughter committed to Boston College at 15. She was a Gatorade Player of the Year, two years in a row, with 2,358 points in high school. Men, as practice players, were brought in to help them improve due to their size and strength. It was distressing to think one of them could take her spot.”
Recently, Brown criticized the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for its policies on transgender athletes. He shared his views in an opinion piece, calling out the league as hypocritical. “The WNBA better get their act together because they’re going to lose it all,” Brown warned.
Scott Brown is contesting to replace the retiring Jeanne Shaheen in the Senate. In the Republican primary, he faces former Senator John Sununu. The Democratic primary features Rep. Chris Pappas and several other candidates.
The general election is set for November 3rd. The Ruthless Podcast’s Midterm Interview Series has been interviewing major political figures ahead of the elections. Josh Holmes, co-host of the podcast, praised Brown for his dedication to conservative values in a challenging political landscape. “You’re a good man,” Holmes said, acknowledging Brown’s commitment in difficult environments.
