Fox News reporter Kevin Corke reveals an investigation conducted collaboratively by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). This investigation targets truck driver schools involved in issuing improper certifications and falsifying records. The focus is on commercial driver’s licenses granted to non-citizens. The probe follows multiple fatal truck accidents involving illegal immigrants, raising significant safety concerns for American highways.
On Sunday, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy mentioned an upcoming announcement about the Trump administration’s widespread fraud crackdown. In a social media post, Duffy hinted at a “fraud crackdown” planned for Monday, citing efforts involving multiple departments.
Duffy tagged Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, pointing to coordinated efforts tackling fraud. Although Duffy did not disclose specific details of the announcement, including its timing, location, or whether arrests have been made, the anticipation within the administration demonstrates its commitment to addressing fraud.
Part of a broader campaign, the Trump administration established the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud in March, aiming to coordinate efforts across federal benefit programs. Accompanying this initiative, the DOJ introduced the National Fraud Enforcement Division to investigate and prosecute theft or fraudulent activities involving taxpayer funds.
In recent months, Duffy’s Department of Transportation has partnered with DHS to address fraud and safety violations in the commercial trucking industry. These efforts focus on improperly issued commercial driver’s licenses, fraudulent driving schools, and unvetted foreign drivers. The Trump administration has scaled up efforts to tackle fraud across various sectors such as healthcare, government benefits, trade, and immigration programs.
In July, the agencies announced investigations into approximately 75 commercial driving schools suspected of fraud, specifically falsifying training records and improperly certifying drivers. Complementing these initiatives, roadside enforcement operations conducted by the departments target unqualified foreign commercial drivers.
