Jackson Koivun has been added to the U.S. team for the Presidents Cup. His inclusion comes just three months after his departure from Auburn University. Alongside Koivun, Jacob Bridgeman is also making his debut in the American team. Notably, the U.S. team hasn’t faced a loss in the competition for 28 years.
At 21, Koivun’s entry is marked by notable achievements. He secured victory at the 3M Open in his third professional tournament and qualified for the PGA Tour postseason in a mere five events. This accomplishment mirrors Jordan Spieth’s feat in 2013, as Koivun is only the second player to begin a year without a tour card and yet participate in the Presidents Cup.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker has chosen Bridgeman, who has won at Riviera this year, overlooking Ryan Gerard—ranked No. 22 globally—despite Gerard’s commendable performance at the Tour Championship, where he finished third.
On the international front, captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected Canadians Corey Conners and Nick Taylor, along with Ryo Hisatsune. This event marks the first occasion since 1998 that the International team will feature two Japanese players—Hisatsune joining Hideki Matsuyama, who secured one of the six automatic spots. The Presidents Cup is scheduled from September 24-27 at Medinah Country Club. This venue has undergone a comprehensive renovation led by Ogilvy’s Australia-based golf course design firm.

Other developments within golf circles indicate that Good Good will no longer serve as a title sponsor for a PGA Tour event, and has also lost Callaway sponsorship due to advertisement issues. Additionally, the Golf Channel has postponed the premiere of ‘Big Break’ following a sponsor withdrawal over a Good Good Golf video.
Recent performances include Jackson Koivun’s triumph at the 3M Open, overcoming competition from Scottie Scheffler. Meanwhile, Michael Kim achieved a remarkable 15th 59 in PGA Tour history at the 3M Open, thanks to four consecutive birdies in the final holes.
