Podcaster Joe Rogan expressed strong criticism towards supporters of Lindsay Clancy during a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Clancy, a former nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, faces a trial for the alleged murder of her three children, Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and 8-month-old Callan, on January 24, 2023. She is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Clancy acknowledges her actions but argues postpartum psychosis rendered her not criminally responsible.
Many women have taken to social media to support Clancy or propose conspiracy theories regarding her case. Rogan reacted starkly, stating, “This lady killed her kids and everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, she needed help.’ Imagine if a single father killed his kids. Do you think there’d be any dads out there saying, ‘We get it. We understand. I also get sad!’”
Rogan’s comments follow as he criticized the perception of Clancy’s supporters. He emphasized, “If those ladies could see the crime scene and see those dead kids… the last thing they saw was their mother standing over them… choking them to death, I don’t think they would feel so bad.”
Rogan voiced his displeasure with modern politics and society, calling the situation surreal. “People are out of their minds right now. She’s out of her mind. The world is out of its mind. It’s like more of these things come up where you’re like, ‘This can’t be real. This can’t be real.’ And it is real,” he asserted.
He noted the contrast between this public sentiment and the norm that parents would protect their children. Rogan also raised concerns about growing radicalization, particularly among childless liberal women. He suggested they treat the world as their child, worrying about various global issues.
Experts shared their views with Fox News Digital on Rogan’s comments. Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring, a psychiatrist, mentioned that social media has amplified the spectacle. “Rogan is right about one thing: people can turn cases like this into teams. That is not healthy. Lindsay Clancy should not be treated like a hero or celebrity. Three children died. And some of the TikTok commentary around this case is just dumb,” he expressed.
Dr. Witt-Doerring added that while many women supporting Lindsay are not justifying the murders, they highlight the challenges of postpartum periods, including mental health issues. “Lindsay was prescribed 13 different psychiatric drugs in the months before the deaths, and there is evidence that those medications may have played a role in making her worse,” he explained.
Mary Marslender, a former GOP consultant, agreed with Rogan’s observations about the gender-based double standard. “Joe Rogan is spot on. Would there be a supporter rally for a father who committed the same act? Of course not,” she stated.
Marslender concluded that acknowledging Clancy’s mental health challenges and the psychiatric system’s flaws should not lead to idolizing her. “This is not a story of misplaced compassion; it’s one of deep moral confusion. These children were not merely statistics or a talking point; they were a five-year-old, a three-year-old, and a baby,” she added.
