Chicago police are examining the circumstances of a 1-year-old girl’s death in the West Ridge neighborhood. The child was found unresponsive with injuries on her lower body at a residence on 2600 West Rosemont Avenue. This discovery took place around 11:40 a.m., according to police reports.
Following the incident, she was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where medical personnel pronounced her dead. Authorities identified the child as Maombi Joyeuse, as confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is planned for Sunday to determine further details surrounding her death.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has not provided additional information. However, the agency has stated it will collaborate with police in the investigation after the autopsy results are available.
