The New York Giants face uncertainty following the first week of the NFL season due to the injury of their quarterback, Jaxson Dart. Dart, now in his second NFL season, sustained a left knee injury during the opening series of a Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The injury occurred in the first quarter when Dart was hit high and low by Rams defenders. The low hit caused his knee to bend unnaturally. This incident has put the team’s early optimism on hold. Additionally, receiver Malik Nabers left the game clutching his right shoulder after an incomplete pass. Despite this scare, Nabers returned to the game after missing one series.
Dart’s injury visibly alarmed many. He lay on the ground clutching the knee used for his forward leg during throws, a concerning sign. Fortunately, Dart’s leg was not firmly planted when struck, potentially reducing the risk of a severe ACL tear. However, an NFL source suggests Dart might have an MCL issue. This could mean missing time but not requiring surgery.
After limping off the field, Dart received initial treatment in the team’s medical tent, surrounded by concerned teammates. Eventually, he was escorted to the locker room, walking with a limp under his own power. Jameis Winston, the backup quarterback, took over in Dart’s absence.
