A childhood friend of Lindsay Clancy expressed dissatisfaction with Patrick Clancy’s recent interview on 60 Minutes, viewing it as a missed chance to address important topics. Brittany Romano, who shared a neighborhood with Lindsay Clancy in their youth, spoke to Newsweek about her concerns.
Patrick Clancy’s Interview Highlights
During the interview, Clancy talked about his grief, the importance of forgiveness, and the effects of losing his children. He stressed that his ex-wife’s actions stemmed from severe mental illness, not malice. Clancy criticized the media portrayal of his ex-wife with terms like “killer mom,” which he found inaccurate. His testimony during the trial caused him significant distress, resulting in suicidal thoughts and a severe panic attack.
Clancy also addressed online conspiracy theories, describing them as harmful to his children’s legacy and diverging from the essential focus on postnatal mental illness awareness.
Romano’s Critique of the Interview
Romano, who became notable during Lindsay Clancy’s trial as the “Green Dress Lady,” felt the interview lacked depth. She believed important questions remained unanswered, such as issues related to the malpractice lawsuit, Clancy’s testimony, and the timeline of events. Romano questioned the timing of the interview, given its proximity to a critical upcoming hearing.
She also expressed disappointment that the interview failed to highlight postpartum mental health issues effectively. Romano felt Clancy himself seemed unaware of the intricacies of postpartum mental illness, suggesting a lack of understanding.
Rachel Danis’ Role in the Interview
Patrick Clancy’s current wife, Rachel Danis, appeared at the end of the interview. She described Clancy as a supportive partner and father, acknowledging her role in his life as he continues to grieve. The couple announced they are expecting a child, with Clancy expressing eagerness to share memories of his lost children with the new baby.
Romano felt Danis’ presence was awkward and questioned its purpose. She speculated on whether her appearance aimed to humanize or support Clancy, especially in conjunction with announcing the pregnancy.
Current Status of Lindsay Clancy’s Case
The case involving Lindsay Clancy ended in a mistrial after jurors could not reach a verdict. A status hearing is planned for September 29, 2026, to determine future steps. It remains uncertain whether Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz will pursue another trial. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington intends to dispute any retrial, citing double-jeopardy concerns.
