President Donald Trump addressed reporters on the White House lawn, revealing alarming casualty figures from the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. During August, 25,000 individuals lost their lives, and the previous month saw 32,000 fatalities. Most of those deaths were soldiers, amounting to 97% of the casualties.
Russia has sustained significant losses, with approximately 450,000 soldiers killed since the conflict began in 2022, based on data provided by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS).
Trump communicated his desire for a swift resolution to the conflict, expressing that he recently had discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “I spoke to him a lot, and he’s going along and Putin’s going along. And someday, hopefully in the not too distant future, maybe before the heavy winter, they’ll make a deal,” Trump stated.
He elaborated on his talks with Zelenskyy, emphasizing the importance of reaching an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I agreed with Zelenskyy that we talked about a lot of different subjects, and many of those subjects, very strong agreement. But you know what I want him to do? Make a deal. I want him to settle with Putin, and I want Putin to settle with him,” Trump said.
In a recent development, Zelenskyy announced Trump had approved Ukraine’s request to license and produce U.S. Patriot missile interceptors. Previously, Trump had been reluctant to allow this.
Zelenskyy conveyed this on social media, highlighting Trump’s decisive action to permit Ukraine the opportunity to manufacture Patriot missiles. “There are concrete agreements regarding Patriot licenses,” Zelenskyy wrote.
