Arrest Triggered by Driver’s License Renewal Request
A woman evaded capture for 17 years in relation to a Georgia mother’s death following an illegal silicone injection. Her attempt to renew a driver’s license using a stolen identity ultimately led to her arrest, authorities revealed.
Tamaira Angell Smith, 52, faces charges of felony murder in the death of Eyanna Moore, 29, from Loganville. Smith was extradited from Texas to Georgia and is currently held at the Gwinnett County Jail.
The Fatal Injection
Eyanna Moore died following a silicone injection administered by Smith on May 30, 2009. The procedure took place at a Holiday Inn Express hotel near Stone Mountain. The next day, Moore succumbed to complications.
Moore’s maternal aunt, Yolanda Hammond, stated that her niece thoroughly researched before choosing to undertake the procedure. Smith and another woman pretended to be sisters, posing as a doctor and physician assistant, respectively.
“Eyanna did extensive research,” Hammond said. “The website checked out, they had reviews, but we later found out there was an actual cosmetic location except for they were not the real people. They used someone else’s credentials to pose themselves as those people.”
After the procedure, Smith called Moore’s husband, David, asking him to bring yogurt and Gatorade to the hotel. Upon arrival, he found Moore in distress and promptly called 911.
Smith’s Disappearance
Smith later contacted David Moore, attempting to gauge Eyanna’s condition. Upon receiving news of her death, Smith allegedly exclaimed in shock before disconnecting the call. She evaded capture initially when Gwinnett police issued a warrant in June 2009 for practicing medicine without a license. By the time a felony murder warrant was issued months later, Smith had fled.
Identity Theft and Arrest
Smith procured a driver’s license in South Carolina under a false identity in November 2018. Her attempt to renew the license online in July 2026 triggered an alert, setting her arrest process in motion. SLED Special Agent Shawn Ludwig identified Smith using facial recognition, revealing an outstanding murder warrant.
Ludwig and Senior Special Agent Bridgette Lott investigated further, identifying another alias Smith employed in McKinney, Texas. Local authorities apprehended Smith in August, closing a 17-year pursuit.
Family Seeks Justice
Eyanna Moore’s death impacted her four children, who continue life without their mother. Two children were too young to remember her. Moore’s family plans to attend court hearings in pursuit of justice.
“She was always advancing herself for a better career for herself and her family,” Hammond said. “She’s 29 years old and she had a full life ahead of her…well educated young woman, married with children, and she just didn’t deserve that.”
Hammond hopes Moore’s tragedy raises awareness about illegal silicone injections, preventing more families from facing similar losses.
“No alteration of your body is worth you losing your life,” Hammond concluded.
