The Wild Friendship of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson share a unique friendship filled with unpredictable moments that have sparked curiosity online. While promoting their new show, Brothers, the actors recounted several memorable stories that illustrate their close bond.

Late-Night Surprise

McConaughey shared a surprising tale on the Glass Half Full podcast, where Harrelson once appeared unannounced in his bed at 2 a.m. He humorously explained that Harrelson has never used a front door, opting to jump a fence and climb through a window instead. Without notifying or calling ahead, Harrelson comfortably settled between McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves.

Anniversary Confusion

When discussing their initial meeting, McConaughey acknowledged that they each remembered the day differently. Harrelson believes they have known each other a year longer than McConaughey recalls. He attributed this difference to an afternoon involving shots of alcohol. Harrelson playfully challenged McConaughey’s memory, noting that one shot was unlikely to halt any work plans.

Living on the Edge

McConaughey described Harrelson’s daring feats, like performing a handstand near the edge of a canyon. Although Harrelson modestly disputed the exact details, McConaughey praised his friend’s fearless nature, noting that such stunts are rare for Harrelson’s age.

Vacation Antics

During a vacation story on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, McConaughey recounted how Harrelson invited a newlywed couple they met at an airport baggage claim to stay with them. Harrelson’s inclination to invite strangers into such personal spaces highlighted his open-hearted nature.

Break-ins

McConaughey further expanded on how Harrelson often shows up unannounced and makes himself at home. Sometimes these visits turn into extended stays, which McConaughey’s family enjoys, despite his occasional need for privacy.

Potential Brothers?

The concept for their show, where they portray themselves discovering they might be brothers, became more plausible during a trip to Greece. McConaughey’s mother casually mentioned knowing Harrelson’s father. This led to speculation about a possible familial link, which Harrelson is eager to verify through a DNA test.

These anecdotes provide a glimpse into the unconventional yet endearing friendship shared by two Hollywood icons.
