LA Knight’s Championship Opportunity Against Roman Reigns
LA Knight has a significant chance to secure a WWE championship. He will face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank on Saturday in New Orleans. Knight has maintained high popularity with the WWE Universe throughout 2023-24.
Despite diversions like a U.S. title run and conflicts with Reigns’ allies, Knight remains a fan favorite. His initial attempt at a world title was at Crown Jewel in 2023. Jimmy Uso’s interference cost him the match against Reigns. Knight later competed in a four-way match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2024 with Reigns, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. Reigns emerged victorious.
Currently, Reigns does not have The Bloodline supporting him. They are occupied with Jacob Fatu’s dominance and the 946 faction. This time, the match might truly be one-on-one.
The outcome is uncertain. WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page expressed support for Knight in a discussion with OutKick Dropkick. Page believes in Knight’s potential for victory and relates to Knight’s career trajectory, having experienced significant growth in his 40s as well.
Page remarked that a loss for Reigns would not diminish his stature, comparing it to his own victory over Randy Savage at World Championship Wrestling’s Spring Stampede in 1997. He noted that Reigns, much like wrestling greats before him, would not suffer from elevating Knight in the wrestling world.
“I mean, he’s that guy if he did freaking put LA Knight over, it wouldn’t hurt him at all,” said Page.
Page recalled similar discussions with Cody Rhodes during his pursuit of Reigns’ title. Rhodes did not win at WrestleMania 39 but eventually triumphed at WrestleMania 40.
Page discussed how reaching this point is significant for a wrestler’s career. Winning isn’t always essential initially but can still enhance a wrestler’s standing with fans.
“I don’t think it hurts LA Knight either way,” Page said, acknowledging the challenge and the journey. He appreciates Knight’s incredible connection with fans.
In conclusion, regardless of the outcome, this match represents a critical moment in LA Knight’s career. Both Reigns and Knight have significant roles, carrying immense fan support and adding intrigue to the event.
