A gold statue of former U.S. President Donald Trump has been presented in the European Parliament building located in Strasbourg, France. The creation, by Danish artist Jens Galschiot, portrays Trump naked, seated on a smaller man’s shoulders. The artwork is named “The Orange Plague” and is made from 23-karat gold.
The statue stands 2.5 meters tall. Below it, an inscription reads: “I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back. — The King of Injustice.”
Galschiot stated on his website, “Trump represents a major threat to the rule-based world order, democratic values, and our collective efforts to address the climate crisis. It’s imperative to confront this challenge and unite against such harmful impacts.”
The artwork will remain exhibited in the parliament building until Thursday. It will later be moved to the COP31 UN Climate Conference in Turkey in November.
The statue had been previously shown at several events, including the COP30 UN Climate Summit in Brazil, the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the Rebild Festival for the 250th Anniversary of the U.S., and the Stand with Greenland Demonstrations in Denmark.
Newsweek has contacted The White House for a response. Updates will continue as the story develops.
