University of Maryland Student Found After Six Days

A University of Maryland student, Dilan Shaan Ashar, was located after being missing for six days. The 22-year-old emerged from the woods on Wednesday evening. He approached a search-and-rescue vehicle and tapped on the driver’s window.

According to police, Ashar’s last confirmed sighting was on October 2 near a parking garage adjacent to a densely wooded area. This prompted an extensive search effort involving multiple agencies.

A missing person’s flyer was widely circulated, showing Ashar and asking for any information about his whereabouts. His appearance at the search vehicle marks the end of the multiday search effort, bringing relief to both his family and the search teams involved.
