Lung cancer remains the top cause of cancer-related deaths both globally and within the United States. This year, it is expected to claim the lives of over 120,000 Americans. Smoking, the primary risk factor, has been recognized for many years. However, the use of a basic diagnostic test is still underutilized, with screening rates significantly lower than those for other common cancers.
Data shows that only one out of every six eligible individuals has discussed undergoing this test with their healthcare providers. This highlights a gap in communication and action in addressing lung cancer risks effectively.
