On Monday, three Democrats from Virginia gathered at a rally in Henrico County to highlight the war in Iran as a crucial election topic. The war impacts more than just gas prices, affecting military-connected states like Virginia deeply.
Former representative Elaine Luria, addressing the crowd, criticized the current administration for misleading the public about the number of casualties. Luria is challenging Rep. Jen Kiggans in Virginia’s 2nd District, an area with significant Navy ties.
Henrico prosecutor Shannon Taylor, running against Rep. Rob Wittman in the 1st District, also underscored her opponent’s support for the war. Meanwhile, former representative Tom Perriello aims to regain his 5th District seat from Rep. John McGuire, citing the war’s end as a priority.
Joining the campaign was Pete Buttigieg, former transportation secretary and potential Democratic presidential candidate. He urged the audience to envision a Democratic majority in the House, requiring only four net seats. Speaking to over 200 attendees, Buttigieg emphasized the importance of Virginia in this political shift.
