The People First Transportation Alliance, a group advocating for transportation interests in D.C., is under scrutiny. They have named 13 individuals and organizations as ‘founding members’. However, four of those individuals dispute this claim.
On October 6, a truck showing support for Waymo positioned itself outside the John A. Wilson Building as a protest unfolded. People gathered to express their discontent with a proposed bill. This legislation would allow for the commercial operation of driverless taxis within the District.
Various union leaders, ride-hailing drivers, and demonstrators assembled on the historic city hall’s steps. They united in opposition to the bill supporting autonomous vehicles. Their chants, “Robotaxis don’t vote; we vote!”, underscored their stance. They aimed to halt the legalization of commercial autonomous vehicles in D.C.
